lost this week: 8lbs
so far, so good. spread out over a few days, cutting weight isn't oppressive at all. nutrition has been the hardest part but I've been generally good.
three more days.

cutting weight
so I'm getting marriage this upcoming Saturday and I've decided to cut weight for the occasion. how much weight? well, the more, the better.
I'm using a variation of tried and true tchniques:
1. lots of cardio. no marathon sessions, probably just 1.5 hours/day but heavily bundled up with minimum water intake.
2. limit water intake. the key to cutting weight is to reduce your water volume. it's dangerous: you could have an electrolyte imbalance, dehydrate, etc. but it can be done in measured doses.
3. low carb it. I'm going for under 100 carbs/day. not bad considering that 30 carbs/day is the stated cutting weight goal. but since I'm spreading this out over 5 days I need a bit more sustenance.
4. late night session. I'm saving my shortest but heaviest cardio session for right before I go to bed. that way my body can recuperate itself overnight as well as burn calories.
5. some weights. short but heavy sessions.

new month, new goals
old methods though.
back to basics.
1. eat right
2. exercise often
3. try new shit - keep it fresh
I might join a boxing or fighting gym.....nothing like throwing some semi-lethal kicks.

cycling season
got outside today after I came home from a tense day at work....I did a hard 24 minute ride on the new lakeshore path near my house.
it's amazing how it helps to clear out all of the day's shyte.
I love cycling.
I need a GPS monitor though...the Garmin Forerunner's looking good.

Dragon Boat Racing
So I think I'm going to join the Dragon Boat team at work.
I have a good amount of experience paddling, etc. I haven't done it in a few years but it's like riding a bike.
First practice is in May. I need to drop about 30lbs by then. It's achievable, I just have to stick to my workouts and be vigilant about my nutrition.

Health & Fitness
I think I've found a purpose for this blog. I'll use it to chart my fitness progress back to my desired level.
My goals are lofty but not unreachable. I'm a pretty damn good all-around athlete who got out of shape after two wrsit and two knee operations. my weight actually ballooned up to 310 lbs (I'm 6'3"). This is waaay up from my playing weight of 220.
I've managed to lose some of it.....now I'm at about 270.
The fitness thing is no problem but I need to be vigilant with my nutrition.
